Design a part inside an assembly
Create a new cover, bracket, or guard sized to the parts around it, then mate it and check for interference.
Steps
- 1
Open the assembly and point at the neighbors
Select the faces or components the new part attaches to, or name them in the request.
Example request Design a cover for the gas strut in this arm assembly. It should mount to the two upper brackets and clear the strut through its full travel.
- 2
Mate the new part
Vector adds mates or joints so the part stays located when the assembly changes.
Example request Mate the cover to both brackets and make sure it is fully defined.
- 3
Check fit and motion
Ask for an interference check and, for mechanisms, a check at the ends of travel.
Example request Run an interference check and report the minimum clearance to the strut at both ends of its travel.
Tips
- Building a machine in stages? Ask Vector to keep earlier stations unchanged and to stop and report if a prerequisite is missing.
- Shared parameters across parts make later size changes propagate cleanly.
