Chats, models, and imports
Find past work, choose a model, and bring in conversations from other tools.
Chat history
- Open the Chats menu to search past chats. Chats are grouped by project.
- Rename a chat from its title at the top of the panel.
- Delete chat removes the chat from this device.
Models and reasoning
Choose the model and reasoning level for each chat from the model picker under the message box. Higher reasoning levels think longer before acting, which helps on large or ambiguous tasks. The list of available models can change as new ones are added.
Import chats
Settings → Chat imports brings conversations from Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, and Claude into your Vector history. Vector looks in those apps’ local folders and for conversations.json or .zip exports in your Downloads folder. Reply to an imported chat to continue it in Vector.
